The Upper Son
The Upper Son is reached via a open bouldery slope on the north end passing the route Yellow Fever until you reach the flat forest above where the boulders are scattered about in the forest. Or, you can easily see Azlan’s Overhang from the river trail, follow a rounded hillside to the south of it to the same upper forest.
3)Yellow Fever,V0* From the left side of Dinosaur Bone, walk up the slope to the face in a minute. Climb up the center, go left over the bulge. It’s a nice warm-up on fun holds but a tad dusty especially on the topout.
16)Azlan’s Overhang, V1*** Very eye-catching from the trail. Either approach from the far south end of the scree up the forested ridge or slog from Who’s Next. It appears to be a death drop as you leave your pad but the line of wicked huecos steers you away. Super fun exit. Other linkups done.
17)The 30 Pound Boulder, VB* As you hike along the rim north, walk 30 ft into the forest near the viewpoint for Who’s Next below. SS up large flake to a slab.
18)Hide ‘n Seek, V1 Into the forest along the hillside near rock slope. Traverse the rock either way to a neat crack.
19)Pet Tornado, VB At top of small rubblehill. Go up this rock spire. Walk down back slope.
20)Crash, VB Ledge crack traverse/over. A bit north from Pet Tornado.
21) E-Rock, V0-2** Walk north and near the rim is this blank face. a)up the slab to flake sides out b)pinch up white streak to tasty finish.
22)Chas,V0 SS go over laps to to crud.
23)Go Flames Go, V1** Cool prob. Hike right side of talus 3/4 way up. SS from ear go over lip on bizarro wavy flakes. Aged fire retardent is everywhere.
24)Birthing Stone,VB Funky shell of rock perched atop a group. Lay down and use a deep crack to grab the next few. Many VB lines can be done on the rock outcrops below. Nice place to lounge about.
