Good Host

Approach-drive up Smith-Dorrien from Canmore and before going over the Goat Pond bridge take the service road south and park before the blocked gate. Looking down the remainder of the road west, the route falls directly in line with this.
Walk the road and at the corner hike up the slope and breakthrough the rockband via an obvious and fortunate line of trees that is easy. Hike through trees above and head right into the snow bowl.
Climb up thin, easy ice over a slab for 50m. Climb another 50m pitch of very thin ice covered slab to a wall. An fun, easy ledge of ice turns right and around for about 90m. Climb blue ice steps for 50m to a bowl with a huge boulder.
Rap, and yes there’s avalanche danger.
