Honeymoon Cave looks intimidating hole high up a steep limestone wall from the Smith-Dorrien road but it is nothing more than a slog.
Drive south from Canmore along the Smith-Dorrien and park near an unmarked valley on the east side across from Spray Lakes and park two deep drainages north of West Wind Pass at a pullout on the road over a cuvert with a bouldery creek. Walk into the woods about 20m left of the creek and try to avoid the creek and ridge, but stay in the woods for 5-10 minutes max until the trees fade away. Gentle rock slopes lead into the open valley. Tread up it at an easy angle with the cave in your sights.
Closer to the cave wall, the scree gets much steeper and the final 50m+ it becomes hands on. Turn left and march over to the cave which has nice views of the lake but is stunted in length.
