McGillvary Road Hike
You can practice your frolfing techniques along this powerline service road as it makes for very challenging terrain. There are no chain baskets or anything like that, just a rugged road, that ends after 1km at a nice Hwy#1 overlook onto Lac des Arc. Aim for what you want and make up your own par!
It is best to park off Hwy#1 in the large lot used for the McGillvary Canyoneering and for rock routes like TV Buttress on Pigeon Mtn., which is eastbound about 1.2 km west of Lac Des Arcs pullout.
Walk in the ditch(forest is very overgorwn) along the highway east to where a unmarked gravel roads heads up above a rockface roadcut. There are boulders placed here in recent years to prevent motorized access. Hike or frolf along it for 1km to its’ end where a massive powerline stands above the slew-lake north of McGillvary Slabs. Return the same way.
