Is it fun or just horrible? A hard to pinpoint spot, but is 30m from the road just in the trees. Just before a yellow arrow sign. From the east, on a stretch of road where the Wilson Glacier opens up and comes into view maybe 20km east from the Crossing. Park where the river is seen as an open valley and a tiny broken shelf is in the ditch.
Traverse on a jug rail from the back and go up from the huge rail that is the one fun move.(V0) Go straight up near the middle of east face(VB)
Cleaned in 2006.
Preacher’s Point Rock
From the David Thompson Resort along Lake Abraham, drive west and look hard in the right(north) woods for a blocky boulder amongst trees. This is just 3/4km north up the road east from the Preacher’s Point Recreation turnout. Park in the ditch and walk to it in a minute. Cleaned in 2007.
Needs lots of scrubbing for the arete feature to have its line. There is only one way up as of this writing: the slab facing the road.
Spot Me G (V0) go up the grey face.
Rocky Mountain House Erratic
established decades long gone
Just on the west end of town next to a paved bike path sits this large chunk from the train of Alberta erratics. It is easily seen from the main highway. The west side is easy slab, the south snout has a good overhang problem, the west face sports a number of problems that tackle an overhang to blank slab and the north end that faces the passing cars a steep corner that is tricky, fun and will feel committing. Rocky Mountain House local likely has some topo?
