Cowpatties @ Windy Point
established Summer 2004
A cute circuit strewn across a flowery prairie below Windy Point Ridge. From Turner Valley, drive 5km past the winter gate into K-Country and park in the pullout at the end of the east face of Windy Point. Walk down the road and up the right side of a burm for 100m to the prairie and the first rock (Spurs). Further up is Longview and out east alone is the Derelict boulder. A few very tiny ones dot the field too.
The Derelict(V0)-on slopers up the center of 10ft south face, sides are out.
Longview(V1)-SS outta cave and up center right, mantel.
Spurs(V1)-SS from center roof and go heel hookin’ right.
established July 2005
The Groundsquirrel Boulders are just another thing to fool around on if you are in the area as they sit only 100m from the road but are out of sight. The ground is mostly safe without a pad. From Turner Valley, drive Hwy#546 west and about 1/2 km before the Indian Oils parking lot, there is a open meadow on the left with a groundsquirrel viewing platform. The rocks are at the back of the meadow on the right.
GWs Traverse(V0)-SS arete go left on toprail or hard face holds.
GWs Prob (VB)- SS up jugs or kid friendly slab.
GWs Overhang(V0) – from arete SS, use jugs and face crimps to go across to right arete.
Sheep River Beach
established July 2007 G.Cornell
She’s a tiny beach property barely big enough for a blanket in the spring. Cross the guardrail and cross the river about 150m south of the Bluerock Creek Interpretive Trail on Hwy#546. Traverse(V1).
Bluerock Equestrian Rock
Just up from the turnoff into the Bluerock Equestrian Campground down Hwy#546, is a small boulder with a SS under the wee overhang. (V0/2)
