Blue Cheese, 15m WI3/4
FA – G.Cornell,Jan. 2009
Next to impossible to see from the car, however a tiny sliver of it can be seen with binoculars and is very low down in elevation obscured by trees. Hike in is 30-45 minutes and the falls can accomodate two top ropes. Use screw anchors on the flat top.
Drive Smith-Dorien south from Canmore and park at some small boulders that line the roadside a few kilometers before the first bridge. Park here or just ahead near a locked gate. Walk down a road west following powerlines to a building, and cross the creek at the last powerline. The creek is about 10ft across and 1/2 foot deep.
Head straight for the above drainage crossing over two cross-country ski trails. The trees thin out the further you get. The falls are in the constriction of the drainage pouring over a cliff. No visible avi danger. Fat, steep wall of beautiful blue ice. Rap or walk off climber’s left.
