Rommel Drives Deep Into Egypt, WI4, 130m
FA- G.Cornell and T.Clark, Nov. 2007
Under low clouds this navigational challenge should be done with map and compass. Forms up in October, it can be decided upon through binoculars from the parking lot. Due to the wildlife corridor, this area is closed Dec.1 each season, please respect.
Park at the nice, new lot for the Wind Valley (just past Alpine Resorts) south of the Trans-Canada from Dead Man’s Flats. Walk down the old logging road west for 3km’s paralleling the creek. Leave the road 200m past an animal habitat sign, cross the creek and thrash up the hard-to-find-drainage that holds the ice which spills from the treed cirque below Mt.Lougheed. (2.5hrs.) Needs flagging bad, didn’t have any with us.
Climb a 5m easy spill and crampon up 100m of easy ice to the main falls. Climb 25m to trees on various lines. Rap.
